Frequently Asked Questions
Yes. Every tool on this page is free and needs no sign-up.
No. Nothing is sent to Sampaati and nothing is stored. Many tools run entirely in your
browser, including the QR code scam check. Some tools contact a public service, and only
when you click their button:
- Email security checker: the domain is looked up through Cloudflare's DNS service.
- Password leak check: only the first 5 characters of the password's SHA-1 hash go to Have I Been Pwned.
- Email breach checker: the email address is checked with XposedOrNot.
- Company breach lookup: the website address is looked up in Have I Been Pwned's public breach list.
- CVE lookup: the CVE number goes to the National Vulnerability Database (or CVE.org) and FIRST.
- Website security grade: the website address is scanned by Mozilla Observatory.
- What's My IP: asks ipapi.co (or ipify as a backup).
Not necessarily. It means a website you used was breached and your details were in the
leaked data. Change your password on that site and anywhere you reused it, and turn on
two-step verification. Breaches don't usually expose your email account itself.
Remember that you only scan a UPI QR code to pay, never to receive money. Before
entering your PIN, check that the name your UPI app shows matches the shop or person
you expect. Use the QR Code Scam Check to see who a code pays and whether it shows
warning signs.
A missing or weak SPF or DMARC record makes it easier for attackers to send emails
that look like they come from you. Your IT team or email provider can add the records,
or contact us and we can help.
Decoding happens in your browser and the token is never transmitted. Even so, treat
live tokens like passwords: anyone who has one can use it until it expires.
Yes. These tools are for quick checks. For a full assessment, see our
services or contact us.
